Question:
RAM Upgrade, question below.?
Hello
2008-10-09 16:03:32 UTC
So my RAM is terribly low, but I can't seem to find any RAM (of my type) to upgrade it with.

RAM
Type: RDRAM
Channels #: 2
Size: 256MB

Timings

DRRAM Frequency: 530.4 MHz (Don't know what this is.)
FSB:DRAM: 1:1
Total CAS# (tRDRAM): 9 Clocks.
Row To Column (tRCD): 9 Clocks.

I copied this EXACTLY from CPU-Z tool from CPUID.
I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3. (Service Pack 3 cause FPS lag perhaps?)

Please provide links as to where I can upgrade my RAM.

Motherboard Info (This might help?)

Manufacturer: Dell Computer Corp.
Model: Dimension 8250.
Chipset: Intel i850E
Rev. : A3
Southbridge: Intel 82801BA (ICH2)
LPCIO: SMSC EMC2700P

BIOS

Brand: Dell Computer Corporation
Version: A01
Date: 10/22/2002.

(Yes my computer is very old, I know.)

Good luck with this one.

I doubt you will find this without going to the place you hate.

Ebay...

My only other suggestion would be to scour the second hand stores as people donate old computers so they can be sold for charity.

This is how I find old ram modules that are hard to find.

I have been to crucial and they have nothing...

Good luck.

edit: I found it in two places but you ain't gonna like where ones from...

DRRAM Frequency: 530.4 MHz (Don't know what this is.)

is the actual front side bus of the ram.

Spec's say it's 533mhz fsb. hence pc-1066

It is flexible though and pc800 ram is compatible.

But make sure to match all ram slots with the same ram & bus speeds...

You provide lots of interesting data about your system, but the best option is to take it to a local repair shop, and have them properly check and install the correct RAM. They will also give good recommendation for possible RAM upgrade.

CPU-z also tells you what type of RAM you are using... whether is it DDR RAM, DDR2, etc... I am going to assume this is DDR in which case you go to Dell's website and learn the max memory your computer supports using your computer service tag or the model number then you surf over to www.newegg.com and find the RAM modules that work for your laptop.

SP3 is NOT recommended...

Check here for the correct Ram...
