Question:
Massive Computer problem. Solution please?

I recently downloaded RegGenie (What I expect to be the problem behind all this) to find registry errors on my computer. After I found out it only scans things, I downloaded CCleaner, and went through and cleaned my computer of all registry errors. At least supposedly. The day after (today), after disconnecting my Hauppauge HD PVR following a taping of xbox game-play, I shut down my computer as it froze up for some reason on Airsoft "Total Media Extreme". I restart it, only to be greeted by a blue screen following a sluggish start-up. My computer restarted itsef, as stated on the blue screen, and as it started up, upon entering my password to log on, rebooted itself once more. After this, I managed to get onto my computer, and everything was running fine aside from a slow Windows Explorer window, and a slow, laggy mouse cursor.

As this was all going on, an error message was in a minimized window, reading "G8VZY0iml Has stopped working. Checking for a solution to the problem."

Upon closing this error message, I find ANOTHER error message, this one more serious. "Windows has encountered a critical error and will restart itself in one minute. Please save all work."

What is going on? Do I need a new computer? Is this one fried? Is CCleaner or RegGenie behind all of this? Could it possibly have been because of Total Media Extreme?

Please help me!

I've fixed thousands of such PC's. But the problem is you will lose data or maybe not if u have a backup. Its just the operating system because u have corrupted Host files due to a foreign file like a virus in this case, format the hard drive right away and get to business because if u wait long the hard drive can get a bit choppy if you try to run your computer in that hell of a situation.

Hope this helps,

G8VZY0iml isn't any program that I ever heard of. It sounds like you have a virus.

WHY do people insist on mucking up their registry entries? LEAVE THEM ALONE!

You will probably have to re-install the Operating System since you have totally destroyed your current one.

Why? It's utter madness.

If it ain't broke don't try and fix it!

Your issues have nothing to do with RegGenie or CCleaner. In fact, your problems have nothing to do with registry errors and never did. Registry *errors* are registry entries that don't do anything. Since they don't do anything, removing them won't solve any problems but won't cause any either.

As for your actual problem, it could be any number of things. One thing you should definitely rule out is a hardware problem. The best way to do this is with memtest. Download the ISO version (first link) and burn it to a CD using a program like ImgBurn. Then boot from that CD.

Another thing to rule out is malware. Download and install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (second link) and update it. Then run a full scan.
