I'm replacing one HD with another. I'll be reinstalling Windows XP. Is there a good application to back up my settings for Eudora, Office applications, etc., and restore onto the new drive? Thanks.

If you wanted to keep everything, software etc you should try Norton Ghost, other wise the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in accessories on the start menu should work

Never used it myself though

Built into Windows XP

Go to Start...All Programs...Accessories...System Tools and click Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.

Follow the instructions.

You can install the new drive and then install the old drive as slave [you must change the jumpers to slave on the old hdd]. Then, when you have installed XP on the new one, you can boot up and access everything on your old system from the new os.

Then it is pretty much a matter of moving your user profile's Documents and Settings folder from your old hdd to the new one.

Several good hard drive cloning programs are around. I assume your current drive is OK and you just wish to put in a higher capacity drive.

if it is a desktop, just install the old one as a slave drive, and you can import them from the directories, or you can use back up programs and back the up to cd or whatever media you have
