If you want a laptop that lasts, buy the toshiba.
The price of dells may be attractive but after about 3 years, problems with the battery arise. There's also some other problems with what's called the mother board of Dells. So if you invest in a Toshiba, it will benefit you more in the long run.
TOSHIBA TOSHIBA TOSHIBA!!

Dell is good if you go for an XPS system. It always gets great marks on various benchmark programs and has good reviews in just about every magazine. The rest of the Dell systems -- not so much. Dell has a LOT of issues... strange hardware configurations, odd drivers, and a pretty high out-of-box lemon rating (it was nearly 15% last year!). Unless you're pretty good at reinstalling drivers and checking your system I'd avoid it. It'll save you tons of $$$ should you need to fix it later on.
I never had a problem with my Toshiba laptop for as long as I had it.

Dell has better customer service, but Toshiba's hold up better. I have worked on a lot of laptops over the last 4 years, and have replaced a lot of Dell parts, particularly screens and keyboards.

It is the use and budget that is most important for you are going to buy a laptop. Almost all laptops can't be after some extent. You can't change the motherboard that's the biggest and costliest problem. So before going into any brand think about your requirements. If you are want to do some graphic related jobs and games choose between the XPS series from DELL or Qosimo from Hitachi. Both are expert in handling heavy duty graphics jobs. Otherwise you can choose between Acer/HP-Compaq/Dell Inspiron/Hitachi except Lenovo and Vaio.

Both Dell and Toshiba laptops are really good. But i would get Dell because their company is more specialised in computers.

I had a Dell and a Toshiba computer. both were stolen from me. So even as i ultimately had adequate money to purchase yet another computer, I went and offered a Toshiba. and then I went and offered a pc Dell. i for my area imagine they are both sturdy pcs, yet I also imagine it rather relies upon on what you're desirous to apply your computing device for and what good factors you want on it.

Had a Toshiba - 6 months the hard drive died....got the hard drive replaced...7 months later and 1 month after the warranty expired the second hard drive died - Never Again! Would get something other than Toshiba I think the design was flawed because it just ran hot which caused the drives to die....

Dell, Toshiba, HP, they're all pretty much the same to me. Just buy the one that offers you more for the same amount of money.
