after updating the other day, my vista laptop became so slow.

i noticed that the windows update installed these programs:
Microsoft Office Live Add-in 1.3
Microsoft Office Outlook connector
Microsoft Silverlight
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 compact Edition
Microsoft Sync Framework Runtime Native v1.0 (x86)
" " " " " " Services Native v 1.0 (x86)
Windows Live Essentials
Windows Live Sign-in Assistant
Windows Live Sync
Windows Live Upload tool.

The worst thing is, I kinda think i'll NEVER use these functions like windows live upload, or care if they have the slightest better graphics with silverlight. Windows live messenger just forced me to update by not allowing me to sign in without updating.

what should i do?

Same thing here simply do a restore, or unistall all of them.

I would do a system restore to before the updates, then turn off automatic updates. If that fixes things, then update your Live stuff so you can use WLM. With Internet Explorer open, go to Tools>Windows Update and let it run through, picking Custom instead of Express install. Pic the couple of updates you want to install. If that slows it down again, do another system restore, and then only update what you need minimally to get messenger working, which I would guess is the Live Sign-in Assistant. A couple of months from now, do another update and install everything express and see if you are okay. MS may fix whatever is bogging you down in the mean time. If not, undo it and try again in six months. You can also selectively uninstall updates individually from the Programs and Features control panel, but that may take longer to hunt down the culprit. Better to do a system restore so you can get the performance back, then selectively install updates.

Key words: windows and vista, the source of most computer problems. Basically you can reinstall Windows Vista or just get Windows 7.

i strongly advise u pass purchase a replica of abode windows 7 or abode windows 8 as its plenty swifter even with the undeniable fact that abode windows 8 is on specific grant for like £25 on microsoftfs wesbite till end of month then itll be the conventional fee returned so u could desire to maintain funds there and u can carry the commencing up menu returned via downloading classicshell. yet abode windows vista grow to be microsfts fail and a flop cuz it is sluggish as hell i advise even abode windows ninety 5 that's historic now beats abode windows vista i advise abode windows vista is a ram hog and ms says u choose 1gb ram minimum for vista 32bit yet windpws vista sucks on 1gb ram and seven is plenty extra suitable then vista even on 1gb ram. a pile of crap is extra suitable then vista

Have you restarted since this happened? That could be why. If it is these updates causing the problem, check in the Task Manager under processes and see if anything is using a lot of CPU. Then, end that process, uninstall it, or whatever you see fit.
