it obviously renders the video pretty slow, which doesnt bother me at all. but when i do two different scenes integrated together by panning both out to separate parts of the screen with original audio playing with the original it gets reaaaalllllly choppy. if i cant run it on this computer then i dont know how good of a laptop you'd have to have. its vegas pro 8 by the way.

i think its kind of weird that i had both of them playing about a week ago seamlessly with no lag and now it cant perform the same function again without a problem. (the laptop itself isnt even a month old yet)

it shows its using (on average) about 80% cpu (55 processes) and only 1.5 gb of memory.... but it spikes at 100% every now and then depending on which part its on.

There are lots of problems which make your pc slow.

Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer!

Spyware/Adware

RAM

De-Fragmenting

Etc.

Below can help you speed up your pc:

I. De-Fragmenting

1. Right click of C Disk.

2. Click properties.

3. Click tools tab.

4. Click "Defragment now".

5. Click Defragment.

II. You can search which process full use you cpu, and end the process.

Under steps:

1. Right click on the TaskBar.

2. Click the Task Manager.

3. Click the processes tab.

4. Double click the CPU.

5. Find if the "System Idle Process" is max.

6. If not right click and click end process.

III. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:

1. Open your Start menu.

2. Click Run

3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"

4. In the "system configuration utility". Click either "service" or "startup" tab

5. Uncheck all programs that you are no longer using.

6. Click "OK"

Probably not enough RAM. Get more. Raw video and audio files tend to be very large.

You can try exiting/shutting down all unneeded applications/services to save some processing power.

If you do a lot of video editing, you should defrag the hard drive at least once a week...maybe even daily (might I recommend Smart Defrag?).

You may also want to think about getting a faster hard drive. 5400rpm isn't that great. Get a 7200+rpm HD (10000rpm would be great). That should help with your editing, too.

Any work with video needs a lot of processor power and RAM. You cannot do anything about the processor, but if you add RAM up to maximum your laptop will take, it will help a lot.

Also make sure NOTHING else in running in the background when you work with video. Stop all unnecessary processes and programs while working with video. I know you'll miss some very important messages from your friends, but stop even Yahoo Messenger...

there is no fastest laptop but if ur using heavy software like maya combustion or any other u must have a 512 mb graphic card ur hard disk capacity must be high around 250 gb and ur processor must and by dual memory and ur ram must be of 1 gb so ur laptop will be like butter and will work smoothly for better laptop goto any mall and ask them for a list they will give u in it all types of laptop their price and its function will be mentioned there so u can choose ur best laptop.
