Question:
Why is my laptop crashing when connecting with my phone?

It's never happened before today (although, in the past my phone has had some trouble connecting, but never crashed before), but now it has happened twice. I have looked through my phone and I can't find anything that looks suspicious or virus like, I've even deleted some of the stuff I don't need. Any help would be welcome.

I have an LG Cookie, and a compaq windows vista laptop.

It could be the cable u are using, if the cable wasn't from a very trusty seller or has a design that doesnt look normal, it might just be that.

Make sure u are using a good quality USB cable as some sellers sell cables with some sort of software built in that could ruin your computer!

It is highly unlikely that this has happened to you because the laptop would have shut down and you wouldnt have been able to turn it back on..

If the problem hasnt fixed itself in a few hours I would reccomend getting a new cable.

:) hope i helped :)

The previous answers and suggestions are good ones. Howver, if you still have the problem, try cleaning your RAM chips. Most problems when external devices are attached trigger the drivers and hardware components in the mainboard. All these passes through the RAM. A little problem there causes the hardware (or the PC/laptop) to freeze or crash.

Yeah just re-install the driver from the phone and it sounds as though you may need a little routine maintenance.

Maintaining your computer

1. Left click on C drive> properties/run windows disc cleaner

2. Download Ccleaner from here: http://www.filehippo.com/

3. Install Ccleaner and run the cleaner top left, then run the registry cleaner below it on the left. you don’t need to backup the registry

4. Left click on C drive> properties>Tools>disc scanner or in the case of Vista it’s called something else, but it’s the top tab you click on> Prompt the scanner to scan upon next reboot and REBOOT COMPUTER)

#(Prepare to wait up to an hour)#

5. After Disk scan/Disk check has finished run windows Disc Cleaner again, Ccleaner again and registry cleaner again.

6. Then you must do a DEFRAGMENTAION of C drive which is START>ALL PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>TOOLS>DEFRAGMENTATION.

attempt to unplug it from the wall and eliminate the battery, then carry the skill button down for about 10 seconds, then plug contained in the charger leaving the battery out, and attempt to tutor it on. If this fails attempt leaving it unplugged back with out the battery for an prolonged era of time perhaps 1/2 an hour or so and attempt back.
