My Macbook Pro is starting to run slow?

I bought a macbook pro about a year and a half ago, I am pretty sure it runs on Lion. Its started to run slow, like when I open & use the internet. The internet I have at home is fast and my mac has plenty of storage room so is there any quick fixes to this at all?

I have heard you're not supposed to use mac cleaners, is this just what happens? I understand technology doesn't last forever but though I might as well check if anyone had any ideas.

- Disable Firewall.

- Uninstall unnecessary programs and files.

- Run disk cleanup through system tools.

- Limit start-up items and manage background running services.

If you open the Console app, it might give you a clue to what the problem is. Look for errors that repeat a lot. Then search for the errors online.
