The "loose" fit of the keys gives them before performance and better reliability. If type with the hands in the correct position, the loose feel of the keys is not noticeable.

If you still have a valid warranty, bring the Macbook to an Apple store and tell them that the keyboard and mouse no longer work. Then they'll fix it. If there isn't an Apple store near you, you can call Apple and see if they'll fix it. If they'll fix it you can ship it to them. They usually send you the packaging which you use to send it to them as well. If you try that and Apple doesn't want to fix it, you can buy a Mac compatible USB keyboard and Mouse.

The keyboard on my MBP feel fine. Or maybe I'm just used to the way they feel when I type.

I think it is called a "Chic-let" keyboard. this enables the pro to be able to have lighting. I'm not positive though.
