I also have a satillite dish hooked up to the T.V. (if that makes a difference). Someone told me to use an s-video connector since my t.v. does not accept the vga cable. I connected the s-video to my t.v. and my laptop and I still don't have a picture or sound on it. When I switch the input on my t.v., it shows that the s-video is connected, but still nothing! HELP!!!!!!

Maybe you don't need the S-video connector. The interface technology between plasma TV and a laptop should be a HDMI built-into the laptop. If your laptop has it, then connect the TV HDMI chord into this interface. Laptops like MSI PRO200 or MSI PRO210 has HDMI technology so connecting the TV to any of these models is seamless.

If your laptop has no HDMI interface, you can use the S-video connector provided your laptop has TV Tuner. Sound and video will be transferred to your plasma TV in this case. You can plug your satellite demodulator to the TV tuner to arrest TV signals into your laptop. Then your plasma TV is used as second monitor.

Also, check if the VGA chord of your TV can use an adapter in order to fit into the VGA interface of your laptop. Ask from IT stores if they have. If you happen to find one, plug it in the laptop then configure the video from your OS. (If you are familiar to set-up a multimedia projector, then you can do this easily) . The plasma TV should serve as the second monitor. You can also try pressing the FN key while tapping the "dual monitor" key.

Set the TV input to S-video, then press FN (function) and the the key at the top from F1 - F12 which has a picture of a aptop and monitor on it or that says "CRT/LCD" and see if that does it.

If it doesn't I can't give much more help on here without known the make of laptop as different laptops can handle it different ways.

It is also worth noting that S-Video can be pretty crap and will not take sound - only video and you will probably need to do loads of playing on the TV to get it slightly viewable.

Good luck.

Hvtitans... Not too greater number of laptops have a DVI output, although they are increasing VGA and S-vid are far more common. It is also possible that the TV does not have HDMI.

Well firstly, you must enable dual monitor support for your laptop. This can be done by going through your video card's software and enabling the dual monitor options. In theory that alone should fix your problem.

Also, it should be noted that your laptop might not send sound the S-video connector, in which case you would have to hook your sound up using different means, perhaps RCA cables or simply using your computer speakers.

But yeah, it sounds like you don't have dual monitor enabled.

Sorry that I can't be more specific, but I don't know your brand of card nor the software that comes with it, but simply root around in your video settings by right clicking on your desktop and going through the ATI Catalyst or NVIDIA Control Panel that should appear in the list.

If it's an Intel graphics card, I have no idea where the software is accessed from.

try dvi to hdmi, optimal connection, plus s-video does not transmit sound. it should at least show picture of you have it plugged in to both and have it on the right input, but id just go with hdmi

HDMI terminal can get photograph instruction in common terms, no longer sound. To get sound, connect headphone out of laptop to the audio in terminal of television that corresponds to the respective HDMI enter socket. thank you.

Look for the Function, normally blue option, with a little monitor on it. Normally on HP it is FN + F4 to push to a second monitor but you have to check on your keyboard to see which option it is.
