Question:
Why is my cursor stuck in the middle of my login screen (Win XP/Acer laptop)?

I'm having an issue with my touch pad on my Acer Aspire laptop. I'm running XP pro, and when I boot up, I get to the login screen, but my cursor won't move when I use the touch pad. It just sits in the middle of the screen. It would also appear that the keyboard stops working because I can't tab to users or hit enter or even shut down or reboot using the keys. I have tried to see if the touch pad was locked, but this didn't help.

When I boot up in safe mode, the touch pad works fine, and I can move the cursor.

When I left the laptop on, and drained the battery until it shut down, and then plugged it in and booted up again, the cursor suddenly began working again. But as soon as I shut down and rebooted after that, I end up with the same problem - the cursor stuck in the middle of the login screen.

Any ideas?

i'm having the same problem but with vista home basic.

i'm pretty sure it's just the drivers for it are failing to load somehow.

as far as the usb mouse goes, i'm not sure why that's happening.

as far as the "M A J" guy goes, it doesn't sound like he knows too much of what he's talking about

*(unwanted registry... ok.. add the word "entries" to that term and then it becomes correct)

* (upgrade RAM from 2gb? not for a while, son.)

*(still to find a registry cleaner that's works, that's 'cause they're all hoaxes)

*disk defrags are a PAIN, and only marginally affect speed if you have enough RAM

i'm barely going to start looking into my own, but just in case i don't (forget most likely) get back to you

besides failing drivers, the most likely causes are:

*slow-ness (possibly due to malware)

* malware

* corrupted file, driver or any file that leads to its discovery, such as ntdetect, hal.dll, etc.

nicely, the Aussies as is their wont will play not common, that may not open to communicate! some gamers play ought to call the taking part in cards or the photos like Clarke, Chris Rogers (ask your self), Faulkner, Haddin, Pattinson, Siddle, Lyon & Doherty. at circumstances England ought to be very susceptible to the colourful Aussie section yet that's it, I project lots concerning the Aussie batting, a potential for a protracted time now. The bowling became into consistently promising, a superb crop of speedy bowlers being obtainable like Jackson poultry, Hastings, Kane Richardson all with some good %. & flow. although, the promising batters have not come by way of, Khwaja not in choose, Cowan promising yet not fullyyt solid, Warner in basic terms extensive-unfold for pulling the rabbit out of the hat & Maxwell untested at this point. Yea, England definitely are the outright favorites, its in basic terms a count of time whether the Aussies capitulate interior the 1st attempt or not! which will deliver shivers down their necks & in the event that they're down 3-0, then the Ashes urn comes back to previous blighty

its ur start up programs.. start up programs use many space of ram

after u boot up ur pc, leave it for 5 - 6 minutes to make it stabil

*u can disable any unused or unwanted start up programs

*upgrade ur ram

*do disc check, disc clean up, disc defrag ( a clean HDD make a pc work faster )

*also use a registry cleaner to get rid of unwanted registry ( unused registry is 1 of the main factor to unstabil pc )

*do a virus scan ( malicious file can harm n slow down ur pc )
