My question is: will the geforce gtx 460m outdo my desktop's Ati Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5?
I know there is a difference between Ati and Nvidia and now I'm also trying to compare it to an Ati Desktop card. Hope to figure this out, as I need to sell my desktop in order to get this laptop and didn't want to sell it if it turned out to be a major downgrade. Oh, I know the laptop outbeats my desktop in the other areas, some not by too much, but the graphics is where I am questioning.

Thanks for your help.

I Recommend not even buying the laptop, and just either, Building your own Or Finding a shop or finding Someone that can just build you a new gaming desktop, Because it will be Much cheaper

Dont get ripped off with high street prices, and also buying a gaming Laptop is a bad move because you cant upgrade the parts inside of a laptop, Because quite quickly computer parts become obselete and will not be able to play the latest games, I Bought a Dell Studio 1555 for £700 Ati Graphics card 512mb Dedicated Video Memory Total Video Memory 2.2Gb

4Gb Ram 2.0Ghz Pentium Dual core t4200 Processor

I recently started to think of upgrading my Processor and Graphics card until i found out that i couldnt..

So instead i started researching the prices of building my own desktop and sure enough the prices were drastically lower, I Could build myself a super gaming machine for around £400

and its not very complicated, Bear in mind im only 13 years old

But to answer your question i would stick with your Desktops graphics card because theres no need to upgrade to that laptop graphics card anyway yet, And real graphics cards like your Desktops one, always outdo the laptop ones, But correct me if im wrong

Hope i helped you out making your decision

The 8 series cards are all better than the HD 3870. The HD 3870 has a habit of looking nice on paper, but in reality its performance is about 20% lower than the 8800 GT/S/X.

i would get a bigger screen like a 17 or 18 inch so you can actually see what your looking at..other than that, just get the best cpu and gpu you can afford,,,

You'll need a 485 to do that!
