I'm starting school soon and I want to buy a laptop. I was looking at the Macbook but its very expensive. I love apple products and if I had the money, I'd buy everything. Instead of paying $900+ for a notebook, I came across a Craigslist Ad that caught my attention. I'm not sure if I should purchase this iBook but it sounds pretty good so far. Here's what the Ad said the iBook included.

Also I noticed it didn't tell me if it was a G3 or G4. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I appreciate your opinions.

Holy crap, this guy is such a lying sack of crap! This will NOT do everything a new Mac does. Not even remotely close. It can't use the latest version of MS Office or the latest version of Photoshop. It is the last version of the G4 iBook, so it's not terrible, but it's nowhere near what this shyster is saying. The price is a tad high for it, but that's not too far from the going rate on it. I'd still look elsewhere though, partially because it's still a limited machine, and partially because I don't reward liars.

Nick, you're counting the value of what is certainly pirated software? Yeah right. I can GUARANTEE you he is not including the original software keys/boxes/media with that. Pirated software has ZERO value. Please stop posting.

i have informed those Mac-haters a million situations no longer to magnify. No way you pay 3 situations the price for a clean MacBook (US$999) when compared with an equivalent laptop . you may contemplate what you have become, no longer in simple terms the straightforward "what number GHz, what number GB" ingredient. that would want to be like procuring a vehicle by using purely searching at "How a lot horse-means". To get a a million/third value laptop equivalent to the MacBook, you may come across a $333 pc with mag-secure means connector, 10 hour battery, 802.11N wireless, Bluethooth 2.a million, 1000Base-T ethernet, polycarbonate body, Intel processor (no longer some unusual kind), finished-characteristic multi-contact, and easily lasts more suitable than 3 years with out significant fall-aside topics. For $333, you get both a netbook or a pc that would opt to were called a netbook. iBook isn't a cutting-edge merchandise. very last one became 2005, no longer 2006. No Intel, won't be able to installation domicile windows, won't be able to installation OS 10.6. in case you get an iBook 2005 a million.33 or a million.40 2 GHz with 1GB RAM, AirPort, BlueTooth, and a 120MB or larger HDD, it would want to be quite functional. installation OS 10.4 for perfect performance. You free a touch p.c. in case you take advantage of OS 10.5. there is one on the hyperlink below for $three hundred, yet no DVD burner. could upload larger HDD, and extra RAM. (including RAM is basic. replacing the HDD isn't.) very last value $400. you received't locate any refurbished Macs more suitable than one 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous from Apple. those comprise the same one 3 hundred and sixty 5 days assure as a virgin new one. All scratched case elements might want to get replaced by using Apple in the previous they record it on their website. For any non-Apple keep promoting 2d-hand Macs, each makes its own assure coverage, oftentimes 30 days. do not anticipate free delivery back for assure.

I would highly recommend that you buy this. It's a pretty great deal. Also, it's a G4, only the G4 can run Leopard.

Microsoft Office - $150 of software for free.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 - $599 of software thrown in for free.

iWork - about $40 thrown in for free.

[There's no Multi-Touch trackpad on the iBook though so the seller didn't know what he was talking about]

As for the latest software, you probably won't get A TON of the latest stuff to work on it, but I'm sure that there's still a lot of great software it still could run.

The seller is a liar (or grossly misinformed). That iBook will NOT do everything a new Mac does. It's based on obsolete and unsupported PowerPC processors rather than Intel processors like the new Macs. This means a lot of new software simply WILL NOT run on it.

It's an absolute waste of $300. You'd be FAR better off getting a cheap $300 Windows-based laptop; at least then you'd be getting your money's worth instead of buying someone else's garbage.
