What does it mean to change the dvd region code on a laptop?

i watched a dvd in French last night and it said that i had to change the region code to western Europe or something, and that i only could change it 4 times.
i clicked ok in order so i could watch the movie.

but what does that mean, to change the region code,
and why can i only change it 4 times

I think you can try to create region free dvd from your original dvd,you can use some professional software to help you ,you can try make region free dvd from your region limit dvd, then try play the region free DVDs on your local player again, you can try RZ DVD COPY, it can remove region code limit and copy DVD to an other new DVD disc.maybe you can have a try!

Dvds have region codes. these codes tell the dvd what country they are from. French dvds play on french region set dvd players so on and so fourth



changing it makes it so u can play a different countries dvds in your player but you can only change it a certain number of times before it stays in the last region it was set to. like with you it said you have 4 times to change it, and since you hit ok, you now only have 3 more times that you can change it.



There are ways of reseting it but unless you know what u are doing its best to leave the region set to whatever region you live in

Your laptop DVD rom should be region free but if it is try loading a different codec or update the software from the support pages of the manufacturer. Also you may want to check the type of DVD disc you are using as some DVD rom are Dvd software allows you to remove regional setting too!!

All the DVD are manufactured as per geography and view other contries DVD's you have to change the code.



And after 5th time, you will not be able to change it any further. And can view movies of only that paticular region for ever.
