I need to get a laptop for college and my dad thinks dells are better because they cost less if they break and need to get fixed. I want to know what are the pros and cons of all three, and which do you think is better. Because honestly I don't like dells but I want to know what you think.

Dells are cheap b/c when they break down you won't be too mad because it didn't cost you too much. I don't really know a lot about Sony computers. I got a MacBook Pro for college and I like it. It has good processing power and good graphics. You can still run Windows 7 on a mac, with other software which costs a bit of money. A Mac does cost a lot and depends on what your going to be doing with your laptop. So if your looking for reliability, I'd go with a Mac. If your looking to save some money, then I'd go with the Dell. And can't recommend anything about a Sony.

First off I would like to say:

"You get what you pay for".

There is nothing wrong with a Dell, or any PC for that matter. However, they are a lot more vulnerable to viruses, and they aren't as fast as Apple computers. Your best bet is to go with a MacBook Pro/Air. You can't go wrong. Yea it'll cost you quite a bit of money, but its worth it. This laptop does pretty much everything.

You'll want to narrow down your choice between Mac and Windows first. If you need Mac, the choice is obvious. If you need to use Windows, then you need to do some research to find out which laptop will meet your needs and is well regarded as a reliable machine.

Check with the college's IT department and ask them which computer laptops are best for the courses you will be taking.

As far as I think all of the brands are really good and their products are perfect as well, secondly I would suggest that you should check out Apple and Sony Vaio laptops.

Both of these brands are my personal favorite too, so I would suggest that you should go with anyone of these brands laptops.

id have to say it depends on what classes youre taking from what i hear Apple (macs) are better for sertain programs and sertain school projects but thats just what i hear , AND if you really want win7 in the future you can always lear how to dual boot operating systems - just a thought- also when it comes to education like college you dont want to skimp out to much and go cheap

dells are better for that reason. but ya gotta know all companies make low end machines. low end means cheap. like cars. other hand, if it was my kid, would opt for cheapest, then make the kid learn about how to protect and maintain it.
