acer aspire 3200lci 1.8ghz 704mb ram 5 yrs old winXP

-a few days ago on start up it automaticly did a scan disk and found bad clusters in my pics and other folders and re-did them, took about 1 1/2 hours to finish.

-after that the compuiter had errors left and right in almost everythig i tried to do. nothing bad according to AVG spybot and ad aware.

-was able to save files. did system restore with 3 factory disks and it froze on start up in windows screen.

-did system restore again and it works now but it does disk scan on every start up and replaces bad cluster in pagefile.sys at 23% then freezes with hard drive light off.

-tried to boot in safe mode and it freezes in the screen after I hit enter for safe mode hard drive light off no activity.

-I suppose you could say Ive been hard on hard drive over the years with virus every now and then and installing and uninstalling games/freeware - I did maintain with defrag and anti virus, etc.

any suggestions???

i didn't read all that and considering the fact that i hold my dick in my other hand i think it would take alot of time to write a full answer (i don't have time either since i am about to masterbate soon) i will tell you this though: computers are good! You can find good porn on them! (If you have internet of course!)

An external hard drive can be a good back up as long you always check the data you copied to it and always keep it in a safe place. But a better backup is a non electronically moving parts system like a Tape Backup, or CDs and DVDs and now also BR Discs (Blu-Ray Disc). Always check the data you copy to make sure there is no corruption, and always keep those backups on a different place from the originals in case of fire or water damage (this way only one device gets the damage while the other survives). A good place to keep your pictures is on a DVD-RW so you can keep on adding them every so often, and the storage the DVD on a safe like the personal safe in the banks. Just a note here, your choice of external Hard Drive was very poor as Maxtor has fame of making non-reliable HDD in general. I suggest you do some research before buying any electronic component as today we have lots of sources for information on old and new products. Just go online and search for “review” and the name of the product.

yes, your hard drive has malfunctioned. you tried all the right stuff, but it's time for a new one.
