Hi Ilikecats,
It might be an issue with operating system corruption or hard drive. To isolate the root cause, you may run an onboard diagnostic test on your computer by following the steps below:
* Restart your computer and tap F12 at Dell logo.
* Highlight diagnostics and hit Enter to initiate the test.
* Make a note of error code if any.
In case you get any error code, it is an issue with system hardware and might need replacement. For more information, you may refer to link: http://dell.to/140XDxC
If the diagnostics pass, try restoring computer to factory defaults. You may find detailed steps on Factory image restore from the following link:
http://dell.to/14jwlCW
Before you proceed, I will advise you to take a complete backup of your data (pictures, music, applications, videos, documents) as this step leads to complete data loss. Remove all the external peripherals (like printers, scanners, any USB device except keyboard and mouse) connected to your computer.
If you have partitioned / resized the hard drive of computer, you might not be able to access the Factory image partition. You might need to format the hard drive and re-install Operating System using Windows OEM recovery media.
If the factory image restore fails, you may send me an email with system service tag and owner details (under whose name system is registered, phone#, complete address with Zip code).
You may email me at: chinmay_sharma@dell.com.
Once I have the details, I'll explore the possible repair options.
Hope this helps.
Thanks and Regards,
Chinmay S
