Will more ram or running a 64-bit OS improve tablet inking? Will you feel less lag when you draw on tablet if you have more ram? What about running on a 64 bit OS instead of a 32 bit OS?

As everyone has said, increasing your RAM is definitely the best upgrade. Max it out if you can.

TabletPC's have several more background services running vs. a regular laptop so having a lot of RAM really speeds up responsiveness. Plus there are many little utilities out there that enhance TPC's usefulness that will reside in RAM, too.

As for 32 bit vs. 64 bit, 64 would be good *if* there were more apps out there that supported it. In a few more years the extra expense may be worth it, but for now I wouldn't bother.

Adding more RAM will surely boost performance but it depends on how much RAM you already have and what kind of work you do on your laptop. For starters, you should only consider 64 bit OS if you need more than 4 gb RAM as 32 bit OS only supports around 3.5 gb RAM. But, I have a 3 gb RAM and I dont feel any lag.

Increasing the RAM in your laptop will absolutely help. This allows more data to be available to your processor instantly, meaning better reaction time, less lag etc. You will see an improvement in all operations on your laptop by increasing the RAM, depending on the amount of the increase, and the type of RAM you are using. I would recommend DDR2 or DDR3, and to really see a difference in your laptops operation, I would recommend at least doubling whatever amount of ram you have now (if possible).

As for changing to a 64bit operating system, yes, this COULD also boost your performance, but that is not guarunteed like the RAM upgrade is.

Bottom line, when it comes to cost, RAM will be your choice. Upgrading your OS will cost much more than upgrading your RAM.

yup thats true if u add more ram the comp speed increase about 40%(if u upgrade proc may be around 10% increase speed) or more but if u run 64-bit OS i think you will feel more lag (still better 32-bit OS)
