Okay so I have a laptop that can only support 1-stick of RAM in it, and I was wondering if I can add another module to increase the amount to 2 or even 3 because I have an old computer that doesn't work anymore and I found 2 1GB RAM sticks in and also a holder for the 2. If anyone can answer my question I would Appreciate it. And Thankyou for your time.

the quick answer is to characteristic a unmarried 2GB memory module into your computing device's boom slot. 3GB entire of unmarried channel memory is probable to be extra effective than 2GB of twin channel. a million) 32-bit abode windows will in undemanding words use about 3.25 GB of memory no count number how a lot RAM you've put in. the further would not damage, besides the indisputable fact that that's handed over with the help of the device. 2) twin channel calls for that both memory modules have an same skill and %. now and again you could blend-and-tournament distributors and get twin channel, yet that isn't continually artwork - relies upon on the motherboard. The worst that occurs is the memory will artwork in commonplace, unmarried channel mode. that's no longer a large loss. 3) upload the 2GB module. low fee, quick and easy. 4) twin (triple or quadruple) channel is a characteristic of the motherboard. memory modules do not comprehend or care that they are being utilized in dissimilar channel configurations.

It would be helpful if we knew the exact laptop make and model to give a good answer. But yes most laptops have 2 ram slots. Your best bet is to go to www.crucial.com and let their little program scan your computer and it will tell you what you have in and what the max you can upgrade to. It will give you prices and everything. You must have a netbook most of those support 1 stick and its usually 2gb max but laptops can go to 4gb each slot or 8gb total. I have a laptop right now that will support 8gb DDR3 but i only have 4gb in it right now on 2 sticks

Sorry, No. If it can only support 1 ram module, than 1 it is. You might be able to upgrade memory size. Add a little more detail to your post please. ie; Model # & Make. With those details, I will be able to find more information regarding your unit, and the memory specs for upgrading.

I don't think so. Laptops are built to support SODIMM form factors. Laptops usually have an area on the underside that you can open up and add a RAM extension (Just remember that it has to be SODIMM). Additionally, if you have a PCMCIA slot, you can probably add even more.

There are many types of RAM, so you need to know what you have and what the max capacity is.

Use the scanner at Crucial to find out.

www.crucial.com

Your manual will have this info also.

You would have to replace the motherboard, elsewise the computer wont read the ram.

im not exaclty understanding what you are asking here. what you can do is go to www.crucial.com and let their scanner check your computer to see what it can run and how much is the max, from there you can determine what you can upgrade it with.
