My laptop is on it's last days of functioning and I am looking to buy a new one. I really don't know if the price difference between a Mac and a Windows laptop is really worth it. From my experience I've seen that the Mac is double the price of a Windows that has mostly the same specs. Can someone please help me and tell me if the price difference is really worth it?

Thank you

It really depends on what you want. I must take exception to your statement about 2X the cost. Apple doesnt' cater to the low end market. If you examine high end machines you won't see that much of a difference. If you're a gamer .... PC all the way. If you're not a gamer and really use your computer for work and want to have as little trouble as possible... get a Mac. If you don't have much experience with a Mac I would say go PC. But do not kid yourself that there's any comparison between Windoze and OSX. Windoze is cobbled together crap and OSX is real Unix.

It really all depends on what you'll be using it for.

The price difference is pretty significant.

If you want to play games and keep it pretty cheap, go for the windows computer.

You can build a pretty decent gaming PC for about $550 dollars where on the Mac side, you can spend over 2,000 dollars and it will play games, but it wont play games as smoothly as the 550 dollar PC.

Don't get me wrong, Macs run great and they run great for a LONG time.

I have had my Mac for a year, and it still runs like it did when I got it.

I also have similar specifications on this Mac as I do on the PC that I built, and yet the Mac has frame rate issues where my PC doesn't (when playing games).

Macs are geared for video editing, making music, web development, and things such as that.

In most cases, they can do everything a PC can do.

Not to mention, the way the operating system is written causes it to not run viruses like windows will.

It's really all up to preference.

I'm not here to say that Mac is superior to Windows.

Both have their pros and their cons.

Just think about what you'll be using it for and what will benefit you more.

I think if your looking for a hardcore laptop on which you would like a variety of games you should go for Windows as they are more widely supported and I think easier to use as Macs always same to have more difficult instructions especially for making servers for games such as Minecraft. However, Mac's OS is A lot cooler and a Mac is on the whole more stylish. But overall if you're looking for practicality and ease of use I would go with Windows. After all, I've owned a Window's PC all my life and never had one problem and still prefer Windows 98 to Mac OSX for ease of use. Hope this helps. PS. No the price is not worth it unless you're planning on selling it on but better sell it quick before another slick Mac takes the limelight. Probably the iMac or something. I wonder if McDonald's will sue? :D

Windows is for hardcore computer people looking to do everything from detailed excel and business functions, where Mac is quick and easy nice for music and internet surfing and getting no viruses or very very very few. The mac is more expensive since people love apple and they look slick and nice, I own a macbookpro and i love it but after 2 years it has dents and runs slower, whatever you get take care of it such as only charging the battery when the comouter is close to dead and not keep it charging everyday all day.

Macs tend to last longer, and hold their value better (if you plan on ever reselling, this could be important). But Windows machines still enjoy more variety of programs (especially games). It really depends on how you want to use the computer.

Mac is for millionaires. Windows is for common people. Just install Anti Virus and Spybot Search and Destroy ( Comes Free)

Buy a pc that's microsoft certified. it means they remove all the trial stuff and bloatware, it's up to date, and it has a lifetime antivirus that competes with norton.
