I'm looking for a laptop that can handle many softwares, preferrably with built in cam and mic. I'd like it to have good graphics for gaming.
I'm currently interested in the HP Dv6t with an i7 Processor, Nvidia Geforce 630m, and 8GM RAM

Choosing a laptop computer can depend on whether you’re looking for a cheap computer or if you’re looking for the best performance. I will focus on looking for the best computer according to its performance without taking into account its price. There are many factors that can be considered when choosing a laptop, but the most important features to pay attention to are processor speed and amount of RAM, CD-ROM, USB and floppy drives, and hard disk space.

There is no such answer for this question. The "best" laptop is one that works best ... for you.. and only you can answer that question. If you just want to know the typical specs you expect to find then I would suggest surfing the whole sale sites for prices on new hardware. Most modern notebooks/laptops have cams and mics built in so.. Laptops are not generally recommend for gaming purposes as gaming is the very market that pushes the thresholds of modern computing technology.
For gaming it is recommend to use a desktop. Having said that.. Alien ware from dell typically has great hardware for gaming purposes however, they can be salty. AMD's new CPU technology the F1 socket is designed with mobile graphics in mind and they actually have combined graphics processing into the cpu. Basically a cpu with a combine gpu. Alternately you could just go for the x4 Phenom's. If your not a fan of AMD and would prefer an intel based system. then the i7 is currently the top processor. Mobile graphics are not the greatest because they are almost always integrated with the mobo, generally this setup is not ideal when compared with an external gpu. If I had benchmarks I would share them but i don't. Between Nvidia and ATI it really just comes down to preference they are both good they just do their thing in opposite ways.. Nvidia focuses on clock speeds and ATI focuses more on threading. So typically nvidia chips have faster clock speed but less threads and ati chips have more threads but less clock speed. Even still different model graphics chips/cards work differently with different games so it could have gfx that work epically with one game and then makes another game pure crap.

How much do you want to spend? Alienware M14x would be my first choice if you can afford it? The reason I have suggest a smaller screen is because you have asked for a laptop therefore you want it to be mobile, alienware do a 17" version but I would always buy the smallest most powerful laptop and then plug it into an external monitor, tv or projector to get a better gaming experience. Do you want to buy this brand new? Regards Paul

As you can see, to choose a laptop you should check on several things like processor speed and RAM, the DVD drive, and hard disk space. There are many other aspects which you should check, but these are the ones you should begin with, because they cover the basic functions of a computer, which are processing data, saving data, and transferring data. Remember that the characteristics described here will not make your computer cheap at all, but will help you make miracles with your computer.

It's best to start by deciding which category of laptop you're most interested in. Laptops fall into four main categories: netbooks, ultraportables, all-purpose laptops, and desktop replacements. The laptop category that is right for you depends on the kind of user you are.
