HELP! laptop not going to screensaver! it goes to black screen! why!?

Question

i can choose any screensaver and apply it but the problem is that the screen goes black at the time that the screensaver should appear. (mine should appear in 10 minutes)

its just a black screen when its supposed to be showing my screensaver.
My computer will come back on when i move my mouse.

im pretty sure the screen is shutting off, how do i stop it? i want it to display my screensaver, why doesnt it? how do i get it so that it does?

I am running on windows on my HP pavilion g series

Go to your control panel and open up power options. From there you should be able to change what time your monitor turns off. Set the time higher than 10 mins. That should fix it.

Try different screensaver. Your desktop should come back when you move the mouse or keyboard.

Your power management settings are probably configured to turn the screen off after 10 minutes. If you go into your power management properties you should be able to configure how quickly it turns the screen off.
