Alienware Sentia Laptop Problem?

Hi,
I recently bought an Alienware Sentia 3200 notebook for £150, and was very pleased with myself. However, when I got it I found that the seller had left all his junk in the hard drive as well as loads of viruses including some boot sector ones. However, the laptop still worked OK at this point.
The problem came when I tried to re-install. Setup loads the files and it says 'setup is starting windows' and then 'loading driver kbdus.dll' and it shuts down. I have no way to get back to windows as I have wiped the HDD with another program. I have tried 3 different XP disks from friends and 2 Vista disks. On vista I get a different error message when trying to install, but the result is still the same - the laptop shuts down.
Any ideas?

its the viruses fault!!!! okay, this is what you do. download a very good firewall. then ask it to destroy the viruses. then ask it to fix any files left destroyed by the viruses. now, restore the files. maybe the internet will have the files. then, you would uninstall any bad programs or programs you think its bad or useless. and if this dosen't work, then ask a computer expert about it. oh, and for a firewall, download rising antiviruse. its the best.
