My computer's audio/video does a stuttering/hesitation kind of thing. It also takes a very long time to boot up. The audio/video had problems on Internet streams, saved files, and CDs. These problems began suddenly about a week ago. I have 2GB of RAM, so that should not be the issue. It worked fine with 1.5GB until the problems cropped up. I would suspect the video card if I didn't have the slow boot time. I defragmented my HD recently too. I am beginning to suspect my HD is going bad. Is this a plausible explanation for my problem?

More than likely you just have a ton of background apps trying to start when windows is booting up, You can do a bunch of things to remedy the problem such as cleaning out your hidden cache files folders, Deleting unused programs, Another thing that can cause this problem is if you recently updated any of your "codec" files this can cause all kinds of problems. If you have all your backup discs and haven't done so in a long time a fresh format and reinstall would probably do your system wonders. If you are just trying to get by, Try the above recommended steps. There are a tons of tutorials and help files available on the internet to help you locate the hidden temp and cache folders on you system another thing you may try is loading msconfig and adjust the programs that run at boot up again there are extensive help fines readily available all over the web.

Hope this help out a little.

with the help of boot, do you mean for homestead windows to load up or to achieve the homestead windows login. If the computer looks and it takes a couple of minutes for the laptop to "calm down", which potential you've put in too many courses that are loading up at startup, you want to bypass into those courses personally and disable the launch at startup checkbox in case you'll detect it. or you would favor to get extra RAM or memory to speed issues alongside.

It may be your connection. What kind of internet do you have? if you have a slow internet connection, then its time to upgrade. Also, it may be the processor; if you are running intense applications.
