I'm thinking of buying this Dell laptop for school. Does anyone have this laptop? I heard the paint sucks, it freezes up, and the screen easily comes off. If anyone has this laptop, is it awesome, good, bad, or crap? If the results are it's bad, I'll be buying the Macbook Pro then.

The Dell i1545 is a very stripped down basic 15.6" widescreen laptop, as was intended. It's a step above a portable netbook, but still with a price under $500. Keep in mind that for a 15.4" Mac Book Pro, you will be paying $1700 or more new.

I don't have the laptop but looking at the specs, the processor sucks and the graphics card sucks. Don't plan on playing any games or doing any 3d rendering on that computer. If you want to do those things, either get the Dell Studio 15 with a better graphics card and a dedicated graphics card (this one is okay, but if you go to dell.com, you can make one with a much better processor. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9466204&type=product&id=1218109498868

I don't have it but the specs look pretty decent (except the processor, that's actually kind of skimpy if it's not dual coar (and I don't see anything that says it is...)). If it's just for school, this should work, but you won't be playing the latest games on it.
