I can't figure out how to type Spanish accent marks on my laptop. It's a HP pavilion dv2000. Please help?

I have already tired to use the ALT key shortcuts but they do not work.

Start > All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Character Map. Click on the character and click the Copy button. There is an Alt-# shortcut but I don't have any of those numbers memorized.

if you're using Word you can change the language to spanish and it will automatically insert them into your document.
