On start up (before Windows loads) keep tapping either F5 or F8 (be aware that some manufacturers use F8 for system recovery!) then use arrow keys to highlight 'Safe Mode with networking' and hit Enter/Return, click on a user account, enter the Administrator password (if you don't know it, there probably isn't one so leave it blank) and hit Enter/Return.

Or as a last resort...

(The first one may not work for all models but worth a try).

On start up (before Windows loads) press F8 and choose the option “Repair your Computer”

***This will erase all your unsaved data!***

Or

1) Hold down the power button until it shuts down.

2) Press and hold the zero key and tap the power button once.

3) When you hear beeping release the zero key.

4) Click Yes to continue system recovery.

5) Click 'Recovery of Factory Default Software', click Next.

6) Click 'Recover to out-of-box state', click Next.

7) Click Next to Start recovery.

***This will erase all your unsaved data!***

Wrong password, passwords are case sensitive.

You may have to re install the operating system but log into safe mode and back up every thing of importance first as loosing or forgetting the correct administrator password can be difficult to recover.

Good evening. yes, what you do is restart your computer and

1.press f8 repeatedly until a menu of options show up.

2. choose the safe mode option.

3.wait until you get to the log on screen. and when it shows up, choose the administrator account, not the one you use normally.(usually when i get to choose the administrator account, you dont requier a password, well in my experiences it didnt).

4. soon as desktop shows up, go to

a.start

b.control panel.

c.user accounts.

5. when you are in user accounts homepage, click manage an account, and pick your normal account that you usually use and set that one to administrator.

6. finally restart your computer and let it boot up normally.

This should work, if not, you will get a better answers. there will be always someone to help you with your issues. and Glad to help.

There are tools out there either on boot CD or boot floppy that can allow you to change the passwords on usernames as you wish. Or even the sys key. Just get one, burn it to disk or write to to a floppy and follow the instructions on screen. (no windows 7 though)

Forgotten your admin password? You'd need to install a fresh copy of your OS.
