My webcam on my laptop doesn't work, but it used to work before. Any ideas? Thanks so much.?

I own a Toshiba Satellite A300 laptop which has an inbuilt webcam. I've looked all over google but can't find the answer. The webcam does not even appear on my device manager where most websites told me to look. I have no idea what has changed to stop it working but it used to work before. If you want any more information from me just ask.

Go back to the device manager and right click on something in the list. Pick "scan for hardware changes". If it doesnt find the camera, then you will either have to replace the camera, or send it in to Toshiba, or take it somewhere to be fixed.

A few things can be wrong here. I myself have had this problem.



First step:



Go into your computers system hardware/devices. Like so: Computer->System Properties->Device manager



Now go to the imaging software and see if there's an (!) next to your web cam. If not then go onto step 2



Step 2



Check to see if your drivers are up to date. You can do this by right clicking the device and selecting properties, then update driver. If there's no available updates proceed to step 3.



Step 3



Look for your web cams drivers on the Toshiba website. Sometimes a software update or hardware failure can affect your drivers functionality. Uninstall your driver and re-install it with the one on the website. If all of this fails call up a local repair shop. They are professionals and can give you insight, and maybe fix the problem for you at a reasonable price.



Just remember those few step's, they can apply to most computer related hardware failures.

Google search the make, like this; "Toshiba Satellite A300 Webcam Drivers", or go to the Toshiba website and check out their support/downloads section and enter your model, download and install the drivers and see If that fixes the problem.

got similar ****......it comes on but briefly, like 20secs n goes off.....the next thing is I have to restart n the cycle repeats,,,,,,This started three days after installing win8.1.....please help me
