my laptop, a dv6-1268nr turns off after 2 seconds before even POST and before logo screen.
it is not due to overheat, or memory modules, hard drive or anything else i tried everything possible, running it without battery, plugged in, every combination possible, i even tried to boot it with only cpu motherboard lcd and with or without one stick of ram in either of to slots i reset the cmos i discharget the capacitors .etc.. I noticed a really strange behavior as it will sometimes turn on if hold it under the air conditioner for 1 minute when that happensit usually it runs at good temps (40-50 degrees celsius the cpu northbridge and video) but it hangs when i do something heavy like running a high deffinition clip or something as soon as it reaches 55-60 degrees... and then does the same thing, it was running a month ago at 80 degrees so i don't see why it shuts down when even the air that the heatsink blows is cool. I did not upgrade anything....i changed the thermal grease a couple times with artic silver...
Please tell me what could be the problem.
I suspect it my be the thermal sensors of either the cpu or gpu.
So i need to change either the CPU or motherboard...
some questions:
if the cpu is dead or malfunctioning can it behave like that? only working when i really cool it? it is not doe to overheat as i cheched it with my finger on the cpu and it does not heat up... how can it shut down after 2 seconds even if i cool it?
i want to order a new motherboard but i just need to know for sure it is not the cpu...
where are the thermal sensors of the cpu located? are they on the chip or on the chipset somewhere on the motherboard?
sorry for my misspelling and such a log post...

Lol, virus, it could be your flux capacitors blown on your board as well.

Anyway, seriously, sounds like your mainboards bust and on a laptop, you aint gonna fix it, you'll have to replace the board.

If its a few years old and you're confident enough to carry out the work, just get another bust one off ebay with a cracked screen or something and replace the board yourself.

The individual components on the board are non-replaceable due to their size and the way they are soldered to the board, infact if you sent it off, they wouldn't bother repairing it, they'd replace the board so do it yourself and save yourself some cash and time.

there is not any genuine consensus from the pc experts. It relies upon on countless factors. truly, in case you received't use the pc 24 hours from now, turn it off. in the different case, keep it on. One significant interest for a lap genuine is the battery. in case you recommend to leave the pc plugged in, I recommend eliminating the battery. consistent, minor swings in value can shrink the lifespan of the battery. also, undergo in recommendations that each 3 months you ought to "re-calibrate" by totally discharging the battery and totally recharging it.

You have a virus. You will need to reinstall the OS, get all your goodies off first or you will lose them. If you take your machine to a shop, tell them to save your goodies, and I will bet new York to a brick you have a useless free AV
