How i solve my RAM problem because when i start my computer a "beep" sound occured from my mother board ?
my mother board is D915GLVG & i have 256mb DDR 400 RAM .After some days i installed 512 mb DDR400 RAM.(in the both case RAM's chip manufacture by "HYNIX" ).But after put the above 2 ram on my mother board , when I start my computer a "BEEP" sound occur from my mother board & after that sometimes my computer is not responding.So I request that please give me any Solution

It is normal for the computer to beep 1 time when you start the computer. That means everything passed the power on test. If there is a problem with the ram the computer should beep more than 1 single beep.

It is ok to use one stick of 256 ram and another 512 stick but they have to have the same speed ddr 400.

Check the first link. Both sticks of ram must have the same type, speed and voltage.

It is possible that one of the sticks of ram is faulty.

You should run a free utility to test the ram. See the second link. You can run it from a floppy disk, bootable flash drive or cd. Even 1 error is not acceptable and the ram should not be used. You might have to run the test with one stick of ram at a time to find the bad one.

well you cant install 256 mb and 512 mb on same motherboard. the sizes should match. 512 mb + 512 mb would be fine

As Zarian said you need to have an even amount of RAM
