So I have a Windows 10 Toshiba. It was working normally today until now. I turned it on and I could move the mouse, but I couldn t click with it or the trackpad. It also has a touchscreen, and that wouldn t work either. So, I closed the laptop, figuring that would solve the problem. But when I opened it up again, it wouldn t turn on.

Before you take it to a technician, give this a try (it may or may not help — if it works, though, you've saved time and money). Unplug the laptop from the charger. Take out the battery. Hold the power button down for 15 seconds. Put the battery back in. Plug in the charger. If the charging light comes on, wait until it's green (or whatever color your charging light normally is when the laptop battery is fully charged). Try to turn on the laptop.

The time (15 seconds) is arbitrary. I've seen suggestions to hold the power button down for 40 seconds. And I've seen suggestions to hold the power button down for as little as 3 seconds. The point is to clear out any static charge that may be in any circuitry in the computer.

This seemingly magical trick has worked for me on "smart" TVs, computers, and mobile phones. Whilst my claim may be merely anecdotal to some, it doesn't hurt to give it a go. And it may save you further hassle if it works in this particular situation.

sounds like a hard drive issue.

it's simple to check, if you know what to do.

itherwise, take it to a shop to fix it cheaply and easily.
