Is Gateway laptop brand that are from EV series are good laptop? Worth $800.00?

Are gateway laptop any good. At store the store where I bought they said that gateway is way better than any SONY VAIO computer, my gateway has about 500gb digital memory and other features that I see that are not as spectaculas as I thought because I had HP laptop before g60.
So what do you think is gateway laptop any good at all worth buying it for 800.00 by the way I already spent my money but have guarantee from the store so if I don't like it I can make it changed it or exchanged it. The thing is I never in my life heard of gateway laptops and only because of "future shop" customer service workers that said that gateway is way better computer than hp pavilion or any other computer and plus in the store was a desktop from gateway that was worth about $3,000 more expensive than any desktop out there and with huge and very huge plasma monitor that acompanies the computer, and I was impressed. Also gateway mouse thing is kind of loose when I am moving and hard on button when I click on "right or left button on mouse pad". Plus gateway has the thing of wireless internet but I don't know yet if it's really works because before about few days ago I had a hp laptop and the computer had a wireless icon. Not a wireless internet but when I wanted to find any wireless network at house it's always said on my ipod touch that it's my laptop that has wireless internet (but in truth it didn't have because I didn't signed it yet). So what do you think of gateway compturs????? Are they any good or better ask my money back because I have never ever in my life heard of this company there aren't any commercials on TV or elsewhere about the computer. Sony, Dell, HP, Toshiba and Mac computers/laptops/netbooks are way more portraid and showed on tv than gateway, acer, asus, averatec, lenovo, compaq, samsung and IBM.

Personally, from what I know Gateway hasn't been doing well recently. It actually depends on what you are doing with it. I google'd "Gateway EV" and only came up with CRT Monitors. I actually haven't heard about any new gateway computers in about a year, not that I am actually searching for them. If I were you, I would ask for your money back and look up some reviews online for laptops. If you spend enough time looking, you are almost guaranteed to find a good sub-$800 laptop.

Gateway Computers was formed in 1985 and was a Fortune 500 company for many years. Their sales declined dramatically in early 2000s, and the company was purchased by Acer in 2007. While the computers themselves are adequate, there have been stories about poor technical support, especially for business customers. I wouldn't say that they are any better overall then Sony's products.

i wld get a dell xps
