21/M going into the air force. i like the built in web cam and have heard of illuminated keyboard. I had an IBM think pad in college and liked that, and i like windows vs. mac. I am a average internet user, nothing special as far as graphic or photo shoppe. I am starting to look and like the look of HP and Dell, Gateway, or maybe a Sony. I am looking for any advice or comments you may have, all will help in making my decision easier. Thank you for your time

Hello ,

The Processor : AMD Turion -or- Intel Pentium , these are excellent duo core Processors and are "great" for muti-tasking .. keeps the PC completely rolling during updates , media activity scans all at once without slowing the PC . Media Center is a must . Quad Processors will probably be an overkill in your everyday use of this PC . 17" screen . Numeral Key Pad . The fingerprint thing not a big deal . Windows . HP Pavillion . I highly recommend Wireless . Linksys WRT54G Router . http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/store_access.do?template_type=landing&landing=notebooks

Can't help you much, but Gateway would be on the bottom of my list.. My daughter loves her Dell. Make sure you like the size, make sure it has enough ram and memory. I currently have an HP and have had no problems so far.

i would suggest alot of ram around 3 gigs is good since most laptops come with vista now. CPU speed should generally be around 2.00 ghz or more. a webcams always good, also a mic.
