First set your page file to 1536 Initial size and 1536 Maximum size. Using the same value for both will help. Also how much ram memory do you have? Anything less than at least 512mb will be slow no matter what you do. Upgrade it if it is less. Next Go to start button/run and type msconfig into the run box. Go to startup tab and uncheck anything that is not necessary to be starting with Windows. Download ccleaner from www.download.com . Install it and run it. It will safely clean out the junk building up on your pc. Windows built in disk cleaner utility misses most of the stuff that builds up. Then run Defrag again.

The built in defragger doesnt defragment the Paging File and MFT. You need a third party tool if you want to defrag those. Among the defragmenters I have tried, I have found Diskeeper to be the most efficient. Its also very easy to use as it can be set to defrag automatically in the background, has a nice GUI and defrags system files.

Try the 30 day trial if you wish

It looks like a really old computer. 128MB RAM is HORRIBLE. I reccommend just buying a new computer with at least 80GB Space, and over 1 Gig ram.

If you can't afford it, go to your nearest electronics store and ask for RAM cards. Give them some information on your computer and they will give you a choice, i advise you to get the most RAM you can, since its quite cheap (its like no more than 50$ for 1 Gig of RAM).

RAM is the memory that processes use to run, if your computer lacks RAM, processes will run much slower. I myself have a 3 gig RAM, 250GB memory HP laptop with dual core (It goes lighting fast). My little sister uses a 512RAM, and its really slow. (both are vista)

XP is much faster than vista tough, so you may not need a ton of RAM.

Maybe your computer is slow for some other reason. How much RAM do you have? If it's slow browsing the web, what kind of internet connection do you have?
