I want to reformat my netbook's disc and I don't have any personal data saved on the computer so I will not lose anything by resetting it. But I do not know which function key to push in order to get to the recovery screen. There is no user guide for the computer online or with the the things that come with it so I can't look it up and the load screen doesn't tell me which key either.
Keys tried: F1, F4, F7, F8, F11, F12 (F12 is the computer setup screen)

Answering some inevitable questions:
-yes I definitely do want to reset everything back to factory
-No, there is no recovery discs or anything that came with it
-No I didn't create any recovery discs because the computer does not have a disc drive
-It is running windows 7 starter OS

I am fairly well adept in computers so once I know the right key to hit I can go from there

Try not hitting an F key at all.

Go to Start, and search for "System restore"

When that window comes up , it will give you an option for factory settings, or can restore it back months if you want. either way, system restore

After u select your options, hit through the prompts, it will restarta couple of times, load and do its thing and then itll be set back to factory settings.

The option to repair your laptop should appear after pressing f8 a couple of times. You'll get the screen with the various safe mode options and the first option should be the repair one.If you don't have a recovery partition on your laptop there obviously wont be an option to repair and you'll need a bootable OS disc.If you want to reinstall original windows with your product key , try and find (possibly download) an oem version of windows 7 starter Iso file.Create a bootable disc ( I use Imgburn) and boot from cd.You wont get factory settings. You'll get a clear Installation which Is a lot better.Free from the clutter of bloatware that comes preinstalled on laptop systems.

You may also need to go to the manufacturers website to download some system drivers but In many cases windows 7 Os's have all the necessary drivers preinstalled.

Go to device manager after Installation and check for any yellow exclamation marks for missing drivers. You can try updating them directly from there. If you're ethernet or wifi controllers aren't Installed you'll have to download them to cd or usb and Install them.

If you already know most of this then excuse my long winded answer.

Installation goes like this, put the OS Disk in CD reader, as you are booting up, press F12, this will give you a Boot Menu, choose boot from CD, as it is firing up watch the lower left corner of your screen, when asked to press any key to boot from CD, do so, (any key). When asked the type of Format, choose Full Format, this will clean the disk right off, including bugs.Follow the prompts, job's done. Warning! Before you install, get all your goodies off or they will go in the format.
