You will be able to install Windows XP as per their own system requirements, but in all honesty, I had a laptop with 1.7 GHz and 512MB RAM, and XP ran a bit slow.

The most simple and affordable move is to buy more RAM. As someone else mentioned, most users prefer XP over Vista. But Vista will have a longer shelf life of support from M/S than XP will. If you're considering this as a stop gap until you can afford a new machine or decide to switch platforms (ie MAC) then by all means purchase some new RAM.

Will Run but will be Frustrating For YOu but reccomened is PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended

\

128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)

1.5 gigabytes gb rec•

so you will be fine

Have Fun

and expect to wait 3 hrs for install

I tried this on a virtual machine so it wasnt too bad but

As smoothly as a very arthritic old man running a marathon!!!! No XP only really runs properly i.e. speed and graphics on at least 512 and prefers 1 gig. remember your graphics are stealing your RAM as well . You would have to restrict running programs and wait for pages to load. Like the above Guy I have 2Gig and it allows as many tabs, pages as you like. And pages snap open when you push a key. The 450Mhz must max out 100% when running most programs how do you restrict yourself. Upgrade Upgrade Upgrade. Or find a copy of windows ME/2000 these are like XP but require alot less resources.

It will run, but not smoothly. Recomended 1gb to run smoothly, I personally have 2 gigs, and it runs beautifully, I keep as many windows open as I want. Right now, I have... 19 windows open, and that isn't counting the many tabs open in the IE windows.

No, Win XP will not run smoothly on it. The CPU is on the slow side, but the killer is the RAM - you need more RAM to get WinXP to run smoothly. It will probably run... just.

Your Prossessor meets the reccommended requirements and for the most part you must know how much ram you have because the minimum requirement of ram is 64 Megabytes and the reccomended is 128 Megabytes of ram.

It most likely will but it will go really REALLY slow esp with 450mhz processor.

It was bad enough running my old computer with 256MB RAM with 2.0ghz processor
