Why should I get a Mac?

OK, this has really been grinding my ****. People keep telling me to get a Mac, but now why I should get a Mac. So, Mac users, please answer all of my questions so I can understand how and why the Mac is suddenly the holy grail of computing.

Here's a lot of the stuff I get a lot and why I don't give a ****.

Frequent answers and my responses:

A: They don't get viruses.

R: My PC doesn't get viruses either. I watch porn and download tons of **** I probably shouldn't be on my PC with bare minimum protection and there's never anything wrong with Windows. And Linux, a close relative to the operating system Mac OSX has stolen and turned into a piece of ****? Security wise, I can run around butt naked and never risk any viruses.

R2: Wait until your market share rises. Your precious Macs will get Swiss cheese'd and nobody will use them because they're so insecure. The first time somebody gave a flying **** about cracking one, he did it in 5 minutes and won the MacBook he cracked. The second time, the same guy did it in ten seconds, won the MacBook, and an additional $5K. Before you guys start saying that it was old and outdated, everything was in fact up to date. Look up MacBook Pwn2Own on Google if you don't believe me.

A: They look better.

R: I gave my PC a fair chance and learned how to really use it. Since my OS isn't locked down like yours, I can make my PC look EXACTLY like a Mac. That's right, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference just looking at it. You'd have to start using it to see it's a PC.

A: They're built better.

R: Just because you bought a **** laptop means that every laptop is like that. Unlike Macs, PCs can have variety and different looks. Isn't it wonderful to have freedom of choice?

A: They're more stable. They never crash, in fact.

R: If they don't crash, then what the **** do you call a kernel panic? My PC hasn't flat out crashed since I built it 6 months ago, by the way.

A: They're more powerful.

R: If you call obsolete hardware made in Chinese suicide factories powerful, then you need to check into a mental hospital. At $2000 dollars, a PC *LAPTOP* could beat a Mac *DESKTOP*, and I'm not pulling this **** out of my ***. If you want to disagree, I will bring you specs of a ThinkPad W Series versus a Mac.

So please, clear this up. I'm willing to try out a Mac if someone can give me a REAL reason to do so.

Inb4 completely biased. Unlike Mac fanboys, I can actually back up every bit of info.

There are only four real differences between a MAC and a PC in order from best to worst:

1. Faraday cages - The systems feature a grounded Faraday cage to minimize EMI interference. This isn't a big benefit if you are using DVI or HDMI video cabling and a metal PC case for a desktop. VGA cables can pass some noise onto the monitor and new monitors are all as shielded as possible. In laptops, this can result in a longer system life and slightly more accurate displays. OBTW that isn't a cheap product manufacturing solution and is probably 50% of the price difference.

2. The vaunted Apple EEPROM - This tells software the machine is a MAC and has no other purpose. It is cheap too.

3. Relatively few hardware vendors.

4. Relatively few software vendors.

Those are the differences. The hardware is otherwise identical and every specific software feature, drive format, or boot method has been implemented in PCs one way or another.



Personally, I prefer Linux.

Viruses- Only people who aren't too "computer savvy" should worry about getting viruses. People know the simple mechanics of a computer, won't get any viruses.



The only reason mac users experience less viruses, is because much less of earth's population uses a mac. Only like 9% of the world uses macs. In the upcoming years when more people use mac's it is inevitable that new viruses/trojans/etc will develop.

Ok theres no sweat factories lol. Who ever said that is a dumass. Chinese assemble just like anyone else. American made my ***. They are built better cause of aluminum tgats it. Lol i had a pc and theyre easier to use. I had a macbook pro before nd it broke
