My laptop was working fine yesterday. Gaming and stuff, and it didn t work well today at all. I went into game for like 3-4 minutes and my whole laptop shuts down without warning. I know you guys are going to tell me that my laptop overheated. Nope it wasn t the case. I took my laptop to clean the fan up, and i d even asked the dude if my fan was okay, he said it was completely fine. And if its really overheated, It should have this screen saying BIOS overheated 90c etc etc... But it doesn t show. Gaming for 3mins > shutdown > auto restart. Why does it auto restart right after the no warning shut down? and IT IS NO OVERHEATED. Can someone please help, i d appreciate it : c

First let's correct the myth that BIOS will tell you your computer overheated...It will not 99% of the time.

Now...let's discuss why your computer restarts...You are getting the BSoD...and I can only assume by the behavior and the fact that you are trying to game with it...it is a Windows 7 laptop. You can disable the automatic restart after BSoD by following the instructions listed here http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/automatic-restart-windows-7.htm

Once you have disabled the Auto Restart, go back into your game...it will BSoD but this time you will actually get the blue screen...with an Error code that indicates the failed part. Google the Error code to find out what it is talking about.

My Guess is that it is the GPU overheating and Failing (which oh by the way isn't monitored by BIOS and is usually cooled by the same heatsink that the CPU is...a Worn thermal pad can cause such an issue), throwing up the BSoD. I do not believe that your issues are PSU issues as you are using a laptop that has a back-up with Battery which would also have to fail in order to be anywhere close to the issue.

To me it sounds like a faulty or weak power supply. This can happen when you're gaming and not happen when doing stuff like internet browsing because when you play intensive games, it takes more power to run things like your GPU and CPU. If your power supply has a problem and can't supply that much power for whatever reason, it will automatically shut itself down because it has no power to run it, and when it restarts it will, since no game is running anymore. However, it could be countless other things with so many pieces in a computer. Really what you should do is take it to where you bought it from and ask them, like if you bought from BB ask Geek Squad. If it's under warranty, you can also call the manufacturer.

sounds like PSU. gaming is taxing on pc's/ laptops.

one thing you should make clear is whether or not it does it when you only game or even surfing the web. if it does it only gaming then yes 9/10 its the power supply.

It is necessary to check the temperature sensor. Probably the fan is switched on at the wrong time or does not turn on.
