IF you know that it's your HDD (hard disk drive) that's crashed, then you should try running this little program called SpinRite from GRC (link: http://www.grc.com/spinrite.htm ). It's a lot cheaper than replacing a HDD. Let it run overnite and check it in the morning. It's pretty straightforward. However, if you have any problems, then just stop by their spinrite newsgroup @ news.grc.com .

BTW, this program is pretty "old-skool," but, like I said, it's also pretty straightforward.

depends on why it crashed. if it just got too filled, reformat it using a windows recovery disk or operating system disk. if it fried and completely doesnt work, id buy a new hard drive before shelling out another thousand for a laptop. FYI, most problems in windows are solved by just reformatting but the only con is that you loose all your saved information. wanna know how to reformat? email me, ill give ya the step by step.

You can buy a new hard drive. You don't have to buy a new computer.

You will however not have any of your data, so you are going to have to format the new hard drive when you get it and install windows.

Just buy a new hard drive, replace the broken one and reinstall the OS.

You dont need to buy a new harddisk my suggestion is try to reformat the harddisk if still detected but if the harddisk is not detected anymore that's the time you need to replace it. You dont mention what is the error or trouble of your computer that's why we dont gave you exact answer.
