Question:
Windows CE 6 and .msi installation problem!?
2011-09-24 17:15:03 UTC
I have a Sylvania Netbook 8", integrated with a Windows CE 6.0, I am trying to install a USB Application for wifi internet but I tried installing the .msi and I get this error:

"There is no application associated with 'FranklinSetup'. Run the application first, then open this file from within the application."

So, i went to google to find updates and found a update for the netbook, but I still cant get it to install, I tried cmd (msiexec), putting it to the desktop but no use :(.

Is there any other suggestions?

You typically have to connect a Windows CE device to a desktop or laptop computer, and install applications across ActiveSync. You don't install them directly. The exceptions are CAB files, which you can open and access from the device.

Now, you can't install just any program onto a Windows CE device. The program has to be FOR a Windows CE device.

So, connect the Sylvania Netbook to a desktop or laptop, and if this is a valid Windows CE program, run the installer on the desktop or laptop. This should install the software onto your Netbook.

I use Winrar. This a good link to download it http://bitly.com/1p3Q6Xn

Winrar is the best way to open compressed files, folders or documents. you can unzip files zip, rar, tar, jar, 7z, iso, ect...
