What kind of adapter will work with my Alienware Area-51 m17x Laptop?

I have an Alienware Area-51 m17x laptop that I bought around 2009. Currently, my a/c adapter has started to short out and I'm in need of purchasing a new one. But, trying Alienware's website I found out that their new standard 17" laptop is the Alienware m17x (Not an Area-51). I also cannot seem to find a link to ANY of their laptop peripherals due to Dell having bought them out. So, if I can't buy an adapter directly from Alienware, then how do I know which kind will be optional?

The power brick on my current adapter has the following:
DELTA ELECTRONICS, INC.
AC ADAPTER
MODEL: SADP-230AB D
INPUT: 100-240V ~ 4A 50-60Hz
OUTPUT: 19.5V --- 11.8A

Accroding the info you provided.

What you need is a Dell 230W adapter produced by Delta compay.

The specs should be 19.5v 11.8a with a center pin.

Here you may get a new original one at discount price.

Excellent question.

This ac adapter is unique and finding the exact replacement

is difficult. However, it's not impossible. I've posted a similar

question on a laptop website to see what answers are received

since this question will close in a day.

What I'm going to have to find out is if your adapter has the 4 pin connector

or the barrel style plug for the laptop. Hopefully I find out before this question ends.

Otherwise, I post the answer on the other place.

P.S. I never thought there would be a difficult ac adapter question.

Thanks for this question and the challenge!

P.S.S. The four pin DIN Dell part number is 0405B20220.

Hiport is a brand listed on Amazon.

Just get yours from Topmic.

Topmic is by far the best website I have come across in terms of having good products with amazing service.

I've purchased from them before and they are true to their word. Free shipping with free lifetime warranty. Meaning, if the charger you purchased from them ever stops working, they would replace it for free, forever. So when the charger I got from them about a year ago decided to just stop working, they sent me a new one for free.

Its definitely a great way one can save money in the long run and its a great investment as well.

I'm pretty sure they have your charger. Just google "Topmic" and when you get to their site, enter in the charger name or laptop model.

Good luck!
