Question:
I accidentally broke my laptop's screen after 2 weeks of buying it. Will best buy let me exchange or return it?

I bought it on the 18th, and i know best buy has a 30 day return policy. I also know that they don't take damaged objects... I didn't buy warranty on it, so i only have the manufacturer's warranty which does not cover this.
I was planning to tell them it came this way, or just cry and hope they pity me. Do you think there's any chance they'd let me exchange it? If not how much does a screen replacement cost?

The standard one year factory warranty does not cover accidental damages go to the manufacturers support website and add accidental coverage.

No the manufacturer and best Buy will not cover the damaged/broken/cracked screen if you did not add accidental coverage to the warranty.

The cost depends on the model number, screen size and type.

They won't replace it without cost. It would be very silly if you insist that it arrived damaged. A screen replacement part will probably cost less than $100. You might get lucky if the will save you from the service charges.

Its not damaged, its broke, it should be fine, if that doesn't work launch it at other laptops in the store, hoping they will breed and make a new laptop which you can have.

Broke as in shattered? Or just won't turn on.

If it's shattered, they won't take it. I have a friend who works in customer service and says it's policy to refuse refunds for shattered glass. Health hazard and all...
