?

Sorry, first question, not too used to this, but Google isn't helping me here. Plus, I'm pretty bad with computers.

I've had a Toshiba Satellite r15-s829 convertible tablet pc for... almost two years now. I got it used, and it's gotten pretty beat up, so I'm getting a new computer in about a week instead of getting this one repaired.

My problem is that I need to get the data I had saved on it (just some personal files), but I can no longer charge the battery-- the pin is loose and it won't keep a connection for more than a second. Is there some way I could move the hard drive to another computer and use it that way, or perhaps borrow a charged battery and use it? I really don't want to drop hundreds of dollars on data recovery...

If it helps at all, it's mostly pictures that I want to get back. Roughly 40GB worth of saved comics and manga that I can't even remember all the names of.

Thanks in advance for your help!

a product such as this one would allow you to remove the hard drive ans use it as an external drive. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812197004

The reason i suggest this is because your hard drive in that computer uses ATA6 which is hard to find a computer that you can connect it to directly. This product is a lifesaver to me in my line of work, as i have taken many laptop hard drives and salvaged the data on them....works for desktop hard drives too.

^^Edit to you additional Details^^

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817145752 would also work if you want to make it a more permanent external hard drive. Usually there is a panel on the bottom of the laptop that has what looks like a bunch of CDs stacked on top of each other. Simply take a screwdriver and remove the screws holding the panel on, and remove the panel. Then there is likely to be 2-4 screws holding the hard drive in the case...Again remove the screws and slide the tray out of the laptop. Then there should be 4 screws holding the hard drive to the tray...remove them and separate the hard drive from the tray. Then when you receive your external enclosure you can simply follow the instructions that came with the enclosure.
