you have no option but to load the oldest OS first (XP) and then load the newer one (W7) but you need to do this on separate partitions so create two or more partitions when installing XP

You will find that when you install W7 it will automatically adjust the MBR so that when you restart you are asked which OS you want to boot in to.

Alternatively if you don't want to remove W7 to load XP, use the Windows Virtual Drive software and load XP to a vitual instead of an actual drive, it does have several limitations though.

this is a good web page that shows you how to create a virtual drive, then you can load XP to the virtual drive

It is advised to install the oldest operating system first, so Windows XP in this case, and afterwards install the newer operating system, so Windows 7 in this case. Since you already have Windows 7 installed, it will be more difficult to create a multi boot system. Download Parted Magic and use it to resize your Windows 7 partition. Download and install GRUB as a boot loader and use it to hide your Windows 7 partition from Windows XP and the other way around. Install Windows XP on the free space which you created. It would be easier to use VirtualBox for example to run Windows XP is a virtual machine and this might be sufficient for your needs.

you additionally can basically run a VM, and that saves you the issue of partitioning your force and twin-booting. I run a pair Linux structures and FreeBSD as VM's on my pc; you don't get finished overall performance in view which you should proportion components between 2 diverse working structures, even however that's a larger answer in my opinion that partitioning and twin-booting.

Vista and Windows 7 are the same when it comes to dual booting like this.
