Is there something I could get to make my laptop battery last longer?

I'm going away in a few months and I wondered if there was something I could get to make my laptop battery last over - the flight is approx. 9 hrs, and since the battery only lasts about 1.5, that is clearly going to be a problem.

If your wanting to get 9 hours our of a battery your going to need to make ALOT of changes.



The easiest way would be to stock up on two or even three 12 cell batteries, according to your computer power consumption.



Another way if to keep the thing plugged in. Alot of airlines now have power adapters inteh plane, but they are weird. You'll need a specialized converter that will interface with it. Most converters will actually come with them now days though.



Another thing you can do to get even more battery life is to undervolt your system. Its a fine tuning process where you limit the amount of voltage that goes into your system. usually computers are shipped with ALOT of extra volts pumping through them, but you can easily get 0.1 to 0.2 volts less going through the system usually. This will save you about 5 to 10 degrees of operating temperature and gets you probably 30 extra minutes of battery life

Get a battery with more cells. Yours probably has 6, and they make them with up to 12. Also, you can adjust the power settings to power save mode.

i cant gurantee this but i heard if you have a laptop and get a dual core processor then your computer only works about half as hard and it extends battery life

I suggest you get a better battery, two actually.



You can charge one and then the other. It works out well.
