as you can see its using nearly 1.5 gb of memory with only google chrome open. and that has just never happened before.

every time i restart the laptop, 3/4 of the total memory is gone and i have no idea what is using it all.
i can barely run simple tasks now because everything "doesn't respond" and sometimes i get an error saying that windows itself isnt responding.

including more details - it started to happen after a blue screen of death :/ which itself was random. i had been doing nothing out of the ordinary. not installing programs or anything, just trolling through youtube for something funny to watch.

i cant play games now because everything freezes :/ please help? i hope i gave enough information :s

ive done a scan with AVG anti virus, and malware bytes. both show that there's no sort of virus on this notebook. i said laptop before because its a habit. its a notebook really.

all components in it are still stock and thats probably how they'll stay until i get a better computer.

this is the processes tab of windows task manager

and under applications, nothing is open at all.

and Ccleaner professional has scanned for errors in the registry, but nothing in particular stands out from that

and the specs of the notebook :D

You do not have a virus. It is working correctly.

The problem is that your computer does not have much RAM. You should increase it to 3 or 4 GB.

Windows will use the RAM to best effect and keep part of the operating system in RAM, only moving it to page file when required.

You can help the situation by reviewing all your start-up programs and turning off those you don't need.

This isn't very detailed, but just try defragmenting your computer. Your computer should be able to do that with a built in application, but if you're running Windows 7 then you need to download a program. I recommend Defraggler. If that isn't working for you then try taking it to Best Buy and have Geek Squad look at it. They can almost always fix any problem. I think they charge a fee though... You'll have to look into that if that's what the situation comes to.

Hope this helps!

May be you need a new antivirus program. I got 2 viruses on an older PC whilst using AVG the free version, have also found it very difficult to un-install completely.

those first rate specs yet shop in concepts, you're procuring a Dell. Dell pcs are literally not cautioned for pcs of that specs. i ought to point a Sony Viao computing device. The demanding force p.c. even if that you've listed (5400 rpm) is slow 7200 is what you want for prompt. The pics card is undesirable even if also, thats only a hardship-free Intel pics card. you desire a cellular ATI Radeon or NVIDIA card for sturdy pics and severe decision.

Try a different browser. You probably have a tonne of Google Chrome extensions installed.

It's quite clear, from the image of the process manager, that you have way too much running in the background, and that pic only shows half of them!

it must be a virus that starts every time you open a program, so that your antivirus can't detect it and block it. If you can run your antivirus, full-scan your pc.
