I have a Lenovo t61 laptop with Windows XP Professional and I was wondering how much ram it can hold. Can it hold the full 4 gb or only 3? And also, does a t61 have two slots for ram or just one? Thanks.

The T61 can hold 4GN of RAM

How much you can use is a different story. That would depend on the Operating System you are using. Will you continue to use XP or are you moving to Vista. Will you be using a 32Bit or 54Bit OS

For the specs on the computer give a look at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67709

For the maximum memory per Operating System give a look at:

It appears the max ram for your computer is 4GB. The type should be DDR II SDRAM, DIMM 200-pin, 667 MHz ( PC2-5300 ). In general computers work better if you pair ram so buy two 1GB chips and replace both or if you want max ram buy two 2GB chips and replace them both. Mixing different types of ram may not work at all.

it will hold 2GB and thats all you need for windows xp, anything more will just go to waste as windows xp will only recognize 3.2GB anyway.
