I've just downloaded cdroller and even this doesn't recognise that there is a dvd in the drive, although a friend's compter did recognise it (but I wasn't able to copy it from there as it couldn't copy things from the disk to the harddrive for some reason)... Really important files on this DVD that I need asap- any ideas?

I've seen your other questions on here. just not sure whats the prob is. the only thing i can think is two things. one, maybe you've not got the right software to read it? two, just maybe the Len's in your DVD player is getting dirty just to the point were it starts to stop or has problems with certain disks. you can buy CD Len's cleaners not to cheap theo. or if its a laptop you can clean the Len's with a cotton bud be very gentle theo

It is very common for certain disks and certain computer brands to have compatibility issues. Try moving the DVD onto another CD, and see if it works.

So you're sure you actually have a DVD drive and not only a CD drive?

if u have a dvd drive, it might only accept dvd+r and not dvd-r. it all depends on the make of the drive as to wot it accepts
