Please can you help us? My daughter has a Medion Akoya laptop running Vista home premium. Today Our cat sat on the keyboard of my daughters laptop. Now, every time she presses the letter e. "my computer" launches and when she presses the l it sets the laptop to lock. We did a system restore but that didn't work. Please can you help us?

The Windows key is stuck. It is usually the key between Ctrl and Alt in the lower left or right on the keyboard. It has a flag on it. Unstick it with the edge of a paperclip or toothpick. Or pull the key and see if there are cat hairs in the switch contacts.

Sounds like one of the alt or ctrl keys is stuck. Try blowing out the keyboard with one of those cans of canned air. It's probably cat hair.

That means the little WINDOWS icon, between Control and Alt, is either stuck down, or the key itself is broken, making it think it's stuck down. You can either try to pull the key up yourself, or have someone else do it, but that is the cause of it. It seems to think the WINDOWS key is pressed. Whether or not it is, I can't say without seeing/knowing more.-
