hi there, been using Vista Ultimate for 2 mos. now



the only thing bad about it, is that like previous versions of Windows, it still get slow with frequent usage.



good things, Indexing is built on to the core of the OS, now you dont need 3rd party indexing softwares, making search a cinch.

the so called "Game Console" puts all your games in one location(or folder) it even gives you the rating of that Game so you know if it can run perfectly without lags on Vista.



the Windows Aero(that utilizes the Windows Presentation Foundation subsystem) is a revamp of the UI is really great, it shows a thumbnail(called Windows Live Thumbnail) of each open program you have and Flip and Flip3D makes switching from one program to another easier.



Networking in Vista is also extremely fast, because Microsoft re-engineered the networking stack.



Icons can now be scaled. Just hold Ctrl then Scroll the scroll wheel of the mouse.



Vista is built from the ground up.



There is more to experience than reading reviews and forums about Vista.



o yeah, another con, like XP when it was released, there is some incompatibility with some softwares and hardware, so be sure to check if your software and hardware are Vista capable, but dont be alarmed if your software doesn't work with Vista right now, programmers are working hard to make their apps work with vista, same goes with the hardware manufacturers.



TRIVIA: even before Vista was released, Microsoft already had a codename to the next OS after Vista, actually, they're already making that OS. What's the codename? bad thing I forgot it, I've read it on an MSDN magazine(Asia-Pacific Issue)

I've upgraded one of my computers, and it came with Vista Business. I think it's not bad; I haven't had any incompatibility issues with either hard- or software. It is quite memory-hungry, so you may want to have at least 1GB of RAM, ideally 2+. Normally I'd recommend steering well clear of a new O/S for the first year or so until they sort out the bugs, but this one seems OK (so far!).



Curiously, within a week of getting my new PC with Vista, my other PC (running XP Pro) has started acting up in a number of ways and I may be forced into upgrading that one as well. I suspect some sort of conspiracy - the older O/S versions probably somehow sense that a new version is out, and all those timebombs that MS built into them have suddenly gone active... ;-)

in many ways its awful because it has so many problems with it and there are lots of hidden information you arnt told when you purchase it but there are meny good points as well, after they fix the glitches and errors they will have a winner but until then use somthing else i am currently running xp, mac os, linux and vista (vista as a trial for a review) really DONT buy vista

Just bought a laptop with it preinstalled on today, It looks nice and seems to have a lot more features - but already it wants me to "patch" things up (e.g. can't get onto msn messenger) that's why I'm back on Y!A



Gotta say that the open new tab doohickey is great in explorer - so keep us informed with some feedback and I'll do the same - if the thing don't crash and burn! LOL

It's resource-hungry! It's got all sorts of compatibilty issues at the moment that'll do-your-head-in! (XP was the same). Should all be sorted out (the major stuff anyway), by SP1.

Looks pretty though! Nice 3D stuff!

It's a good program, but it is too early for many other software mfgrs to be compatible and many hardware mfgrs to catch up with drivers. If you dont need to upgrade yet, wait. If you have it already, just live with it.

i actully have vista and it works really well i bought it at best by for $722 it came with the printer and ink and paper and a whole bunch of crap

Its bad as its attracted 2 hips of problems! u'll be much safer with xp!
